Remixes from class

Vivian and I were talking about the remixes from class. The funny thing is that I do not really remember any remix specifically. I remember all of them sounding interesting and fun but nothing really stood out. Sound for shows or movies often has a tendency to blend in as opposed to stand out. I think there should be that one tune or melody that keeps you humming on the way out, and if used well few people will not be left without that tune in their head.

So maybe sound design is simpler than we think. The audience cannot remember a lot so why not keep it simple and avoid the audience just losing everything simply because there is so much.

Working with Vivian

I helped Vivian get going with her piece. It was interesting at how enthralled she got with the work. I wonder how long she kept going after I left. Sound work is fun and fun for everything. The rewards for fairly little work is great just because of the technology.

It's fun and easy for everyone. I can't say that about most things.

How it finished

It was certainly enlightening to use tempo to cross fade well between songs. Looks like what DJs have been doing for years can work for the sound designers of today as well.

I agree with Pat in that I could play with the songs even more during the montage part as almost make a song as opposed to trying to fit them together and getting some crazy dissonance.

I wish we could actually make use of the black box speakers but I am very glad I will get to work with the show in the Mainstage where the speakers and board are simply better to work with.
